Appreciation of silence heightens our appreciation of music, and vice versa.

Listening to music can intensify the effects of meditation, but it needs to be done mindfully and with a sense of purpose.

Music meditation is best practiced in your home at a quiet time of day, but you can also listen to music through earphones on your way to work or during a walk in the park.

Music meditation.

  • Before listening to the music, I immerse myself in silence.
  • I give my full attention to the music during a music meditation.
  • I choose one instrument and follow its playing throughout the piece.
  • The music continues to play in my head even when I can no longer hear it.
